Sony Group Corporation has completed a major solar power installation at its regional headquarters in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) in Dubai, marking another important step in the company’s global sustainability efforts. The newly installed solar system has a capacity of 391.2kWp and is designed to support the company’s daily operations through clean and renewable energy.

According to the company, the solar project is expected to offset nearly 40% of the headquarters’ total energy consumption. The installation will also help reduce annual carbon emissions by around 235 metric tonnes, supporting broader environmental goals and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. The solar system has been designed with a long operational life of 25 years, ensuring long-term environmental and economic benefits for the company’s regional operations.

The initiative forms part of Sony’s worldwide environmental program known as “Road to Zero,” which aims to completely eliminate the company’s environmental footprint by 2050. The Dubai solar project also contributes to the company’s “Green Management 2030” targets, which outline medium-term sustainability goals and climate-related commitments.

Sony MEA has operated in Jafza for more than three decades and was among the first multinational companies to establish a presence in the free zone. The Dubai headquarters serves as a key regional center for Sony’s operations across the Middle East and Africa. By adopting solar energy at this facility, the company is strengthening its commitment to sustainable business growth in the region.

The project also received support from local authorities, including DP World, which highlighted the importance of clean energy investments in supporting the UAE’s sustainability agenda and long-term renewable energy ambitions.
