Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), held discussions with Almaz Tasbolat, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in renewable energy and water sectors. The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration through joint initiatives, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange, reflecting the growing economic ties between the UAE and Kazakhstan. Senior DEWA officials, including Waleed bin Salman, Marwan Bin Haidar, and Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, were also present during the discussions. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s commitment to expanding partnerships with Kazakhstan, emphasising the organisation’s readiness to share expertise and collaborate on renewable energy development. He outlined DEWA’s strategic initiatives aimed at diversifying Dubai’s energy mix, particularly through clean energy projects aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which target 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050. He also pointed to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, which currently has a production capacity of 3,860 MW. Clean energy contributes over 21.5% to DEWA’s total capacity and is projected to reach 36% by 2030, exceeding earlier targets and contributing to a reduction of more than 8.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Al Tayer further noted DEWA’s global standing, stating that the organisation ranks first worldwide in 13 key performance indicators across the utilities sector. He reiterated DEWA’s focus on innovation and sustainability, driven by a long-term vision for a clean energy future. Tasbolat welcomed the discussions and expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in strengthening cooperation with DEWA, particularly in advancing renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure initiatives.
