The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, through its Research and Development (R&D) Centre, in collaboration with the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology, has organised a workshop focused on next-generation solar technologies, highlighting advancements in crystalline silicon and perovskite photovoltaic (PV) modules.

Titled “Advancements in Crystalline Silicon and Perovskite Photovoltaic Module Technologies,” the workshop emphasised the growing importance of PV modules in addressing global energy challenges and ensuring a reliable and sustainable power supply, particularly in regions with harsh climatic conditions. It also showcased the latest innovations in crystalline silicon and perovskite-based solar modules.

Speaking at the event, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to developing national talent. He stated that empowering Emirati youth through specialised programmes and collaborations with leading global research institutions is key to achieving the emirate’s long-term clean energy goals.

Al Tayer noted that such initiatives align with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to ensure 100% of Dubai’s energy production capacity comes from clean sources by 2050.
