Maharashtra has approved its Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026, setting out a wider technology strategy that includes energy, storage and connected-grid innovation. According to SolarQuarter, the MAJESTIC initiative sits at the centre of the policy as a platform for data infrastructure, skills and applied AI development.

The policy is expected to support use cases across healthcare, education, agriculture and energy. In the power sector, AI can play a role in forecasting, grid management, demand response, storage optimization and renewable integration.

As renewable penetration rises, digital tools are becoming more important for balancing variable generation and improving asset performance. Maharashtra's policy signals that state governments are beginning to connect clean energy planning with broader AI and data strategies, which could create new opportunities for technology providers and energy developers.
