Thermax Limited and Ankur Scientific have partnered to launch a green methanol plant at Deendayal Port Authority, signalling growing interest in renewable fuels for industrial decarbonisation. Green methanol can play a role in reducing emissions in shipping, chemicals and hard-to-abate sectors.
The project points to a broader trend in which clean energy development extends beyond electricity generation. Renewable hydrogen, biomass-based carbon sources and process engineering are becoming part of the low-carbon fuel ecosystem.
For India, early green methanol projects can help build technical experience and supply-chain capability. Partnerships between engineering companies and clean fuel specialists will be important as the market moves from pilot activity toward commercial scale.
