POWERGRID Board Clears Up to Rs 4,000 Crore SBI Credit Facility
Time:2026-04-30 Click:6

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has approved a plan to raise up to Rs 4,000 crore through an unsecured rupee term loan or line of credit. According to SolarQuarter, the facility will be arranged by State Bank of India and was cleared at a board meeting held on April 30, 2026.

The financing decision comes as India continues to expand and modernize transmission infrastructure to support rising electricity demand and renewable energy integration. Stronger grid investment remains essential for moving solar, wind and storage-backed power from generation centres to consumption hubs.

While the disclosure is primarily financial, it is relevant for the wider clean energy sector because transmission capacity is increasingly a limiting factor in renewable deployment. Additional liquidity can help POWERGRID maintain flexibility as it supports ongoing and future infrastructure work.
