Solarise Africa has secured a EUR 1 million EEP Africa grant to expand its solar leasing activities in Uganda and Zambia. The company will provide matching finance, bringing the planned programme to EUR 2 million.
The initiative runs for 24 months and targets 3 MW of additional renewable energy capacity. It combines local business development with solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage and, where appropriate, heat pumps for commercial and industrial customers and social institutions.
The leasing model is intended to help customers adopt energy infrastructure without a large initial capital payment. Funding will support local operations, partnerships and an initial project pipeline in the two markets.
Contractual milestones include reporting and verifying at least 4.5 GWh of renewable electricity and approximately 3,600 tonnes of avoided carbon dioxide emissions. These figures describe programme targets, rather than results already achieved.
