Brazil has opened consultation on its proposed PDE 2036 energy expansion plan. The draft projects R$3.3 trillion of energy-sector investment during 2027–2036 and identifies solar, wind and storage as important components.
Solar and wind together are projected to supply around one-third of electricity generation over the coming decade. The proposal includes 7.2 GW of batteries and 2 GW of reversible hydropower to help manage renewable output.
Micro and mini distributed generation is forecast to rise from 50 GW to 92 GW. Stakeholders can comment until November 6. These figures are planning projections subject to consultation and should not be read as commissioned capacity or committed investment.
