ACWA and Sun Steppe Power have signed a memorandum of cooperation to examine renewable electricity exports from Mongolia to China. The proposal combines generation, storage and cross-border transmission.
The assessment covers a potential 4.5 GW renewable generation project supported by 500 MWh of battery storage. Solar and wind generation are included in the cooperation framework.
The companies will explore feasibility, transmission requirements and export arrangements. The memorandum does not establish that construction has started or that final investment commitments have been made. Other export markets may also be considered by mutual agreement.
