Solarcentury Africa and Alensy Energy Solutions have been appointed EPC contractors for the 56 MWp Kafue Solar Project in Zambia. The Globeleq development has reached financial close, with construction scheduled to begin immediately.

Power and financing

The project is located in Lusaka Province and was awarded through GET FiT Zambia. It will supply the national grid under a 25-year agreement with ZESCO. FMO and British International Investment provide financing, while NORAD supports associated grid upgrades.

Delivery schedule

Electricity generation is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2027. Solarcentury Africa also supported technical development before taking on the construction role with Alensy. The commissioning date remains a project target.
