Masdar has signed an agreement to acquire and develop a solar project exceeding 550 MW in Greece, with plans to add battery storage.
The project is being acquired from Lightsource bp and includes two privately owned substations connecting it to the transmission network. Commercial operation is expected by the end of 2026. Planned battery storage is intended to improve flexibility and support renewable electricity integration.
The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions. Separately, Masdar and Khazna Data Centers have agreed to explore green data centre opportunities in Greece, including clean electricity and storage solutions. This exploratory cooperation is distinct from the solar acquisition.
