Time:2026-10-28 Click:8

A solar irrigation facility inaugurated in Pamplona, Cagayan, combines three water pumps with 384 solar panels to support agricultural water supply.

Solar power for irrigation

The PHP 98.602 million project is located in Barangay Gattu and was developed by the National Irrigation Administration's East Apayao-Abulog Irrigation System. It serves more than 600 hectares and has added 100 hectares to the irrigated area.

Operating costs and upkeep

Monthly fuel and electricity spending is expected to fall from PHP 300,000–400,000 to PHP 50,000–100,000. These are projected savings rather than a verified operating record. The irrigation agency will maintain pumps, pipelines, electrical equipment and solar panels to support continued water delivery.
